2024 NHL Playoffs: Maple Leafs Prepare for William Nylander’s Game 4 Return Against Bruins

William Nylander is expected to return for Game 4 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins, providing a crucial boost for the Toronto Maple Leafs who are trailing the series and have struggled offensively without him.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been skating on thin ice. Star forward William Nylander has been noticeably absent during the first three games of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But, there’s a glimmer of hope for Saturday night. Nylander’s expected to make a comeback for Game 4 against the Boston Bruins.

Nylander’s been a constant on the ice, playing all 82 regular-season games with the Maple Leafs. Yet, a mysterious injury has kept him benched in the postseason. He’s been seen at morning skates, though. Teasing us, really. But no game time just yet.

Saturday morning brought some news, finally. Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe dropped a hint. They’re “preparing” for Nylander’s 2024 playoff debut. It’s about time.

“We’re preparing for [Nylander] to play at this point, and that being the case, you have to make a lineup change,” Keefe said. The urgency is palpable. Toronto’s trailing in the series, 2-1, against Boston. And with just six goals in three games, the Leafs are desperate.

Nylander’s not just any player. He’s a powerhouse. After netting 40 goals for the second consecutive season and setting a new career high with 98 points, expectations are sky-high. Plus, the Leafs’ power play is starving. With a success rate of just one in 11 attempts this postseason, Nylander’s return could be the spark they desperately need.

So, here’s to hoping. Saturday night could be a game-changer.
