Brock Boeser is set for the season after being cleared for contact.
He told reporters he’s off blood thinners now, but he will need to keep an eye on his health. The clotting issue came from a blocked shot in the series against the Oilers, which made him miss Game 7. Boeser mentioned he’ll have to wear compression gear during flights to avoid further problems. Despite this, his offseason training wasn’t heavily affected by the clotting problem.
Boeser had a stellar season with 40 goals and 73 points. He said back in May that he expected to be ready for training camp in fall. However, it remains unclear if his clearance for contact happened recently or earlier during the offseason .
Contract Talks and Future Performance:
As anticipated, Boeser hasn’t started contract extension talks yet and plans to address it after the season begins. He’s entering the final year of his three-year deal worth $19.95M with a $6.65M AAV. Fans might think it’s interesting how much more he could earn if he repeats last year’s performance.
However, hitting another 40-goal season seems unlikely due to his high shooting percentage of 19.6% last year, which is above his career average by almost six points. Even if it drops to around 13-14%, reaching 30 goals is still possible.
Boeser will play a key role in Vancouver’s revamped offense featuring new faces like Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, and Daniel Sprong while replacing players such as Sam Lafferty, Elias Lindholm, and Ilya Mikheyev. He’s expected to start as Vancouver’s top right wing alongside J.T. Miller.
