The New Jersey Devils are set to sign Kevin Labanc for a try-out.
Kevin Labanc, from Brooklyn, has played his whole NHL career with the Sharks. He started in 2016 and quickly made an impact with eight goals and 20 points in his first season. Over the next two years, he improved, hitting a high of 17 goals and 56 points in the 2018-19 season. But after that peak, his performance dropped, never quite reaching those heights again.
Last season was tough for Labanc. He only got two goals and nine points in 46 games , losing his spot to players like Givani Smith and Daniil Gushchin. Despite this setback, he still has a total of 225 points over 478 games. New Jersey is looking for solid third-line scorers to support Erik Haula and Curtis Lazar.
New Beginnings:
Labanc will compete against Nathan Bastian, Stefan Noesen, and Paul Cotter when training camp starts on Sept. 18. Fans might think this is a good move for both Labanc and the Devils.
Sometimes fans just want to see their favorite players get another chance.
Will Labanc shine again with the Devils? What do you think?
