The Flyers have sent Emil Andrae back to the AHL team, Lehigh Valley.
This decision hints that Nick Seeler might be ready to return from his knee injury and play against the Capitals on Tuesday. Andrae, who is 22 years old, had a good training camp but didn’t make it to the main team for opening night. He played four games with the Flyers last season, but this time he was just backup in case of injuries and hasn’t played yet this season.
Andrae will soon get his chance to shine in Lehigh Valley again. Last year there, he scored 32 points (5 goals and 27 assists) over 61 games. Before coming to North America, he played in Sweden’s leagues and helped HV71 win a championship in 2022. Fans might think he’s got potential for more NHL action as the season progresses.
Seeler’s Return:
Seeler coming back is big news for the struggling Flyers, who have a record of 1-3-1 so far. He’s expected to play alongside Jamie Drysdale as part of the second defense pairing. Last year was a breakout season for him with top-four minutes and career-best stats including 12 assists and a +9 rating over 71 games. His strong performance earned him a lucrative four-year contract worth $10.8 million earlier this year.
The Flyers need Seeler’s steady hand badly; they’ve been letting too many goals slip by—4.20 per game! Their control of scoring chances has also been poor at just under half of opportunities taken advantage of during even strength plays. With Seeler back on defense duty though? Those numbers should hopefully improve based on past performances.
What do you think about these changes? Will they help or hurt their chances this season?
