Former First-Round Pick Close to Return for Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have reassigned forward Olle Lycksell to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms, possibly to make room for Tyson Foerster’s return to the lineup after recovering from an injury.

So, the Philadelphia Flyers had some news to share this morning. They’ve decided to send Olle Lycksell packing off to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, which is their AHL team. Lycksell, who’s 24, hasn’t been seeing much action with the Flyers lately. He’s been left out of the lineup in six out of seven games since the All-Star break, mainly just filling in here and there.

He’s managed to hit the ice in five NHL games this season. In those appearances, he snagged himself an assist. When it comes to ice time, he’s been getting just shy of 10 minutes each game. Not a lot, right?

Down in the AHL, though, Lycksell’s been lighting it up. He’s scored 16 goals and added 12 assists in 33 games for Lehigh Valley. Pretty impressive, almost hitting that point-a-game mark over the last few seasons. His move down could be hinting at something else, though. Maybe Tyson Foerster’s about to make a comeback.

Speaking of Foerster, he’s been spotted practicing in a regular jersey today. Word on the street is he might be jumping back into the game tomorrow when the Flyers face off against the New York Rangers. He’s been out of the game since February 10th, thanks to an injury from blocking a shot against the Seattle Kraken. That’s kept him sidelined for four games.

Foerster, who was a first-round pick, has been doing okay for himself this season. He’s racked up 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games. Not too shabby, especially considering the high hopes everyone had for him after he bagged seven points in just eight NHL games last year.

From the looks of it, based on how they’re lining up in practice, Foerster’s probably going to join Ryan Poehling and Noah Cates. They’ll be teaming up on the Flyers’ third line. Seems like things are shaking up a bit for the team.
