Mark Giordano is still looking to play in the NHL next season.
The Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Toronto Maple Leafs are all interested in him. Even though he’s the oldest player in the league, he doesn’t want to retire yet. Last year, his playing time was the lowest it’s been since 2008-09. Over the past two-and-a-half years with Toronto, he scored nine goals and had 45 points across 144 games.
Calgary would be a heartwarming place for him to land . He spent 15 years there and scored 143 goals with 509 points in 949 games. He even won a Norris Trophy in the 2018-19 season! Recently though, his performance has dipped; last season, his CorsiFor% was just 48.4 compared to his career average of 53%. Still, he can be a solid veteran on any team’s bottom pair.
Possible Teams for Giordano:
Fans might think he’s aiming for one last shot at winning the Stanley Cup before retiring. This narrows down his choices to Edmonton or Toronto since they have better chances of contending next season. Without needing to carry heavy responsibilities anymore, both teams could offer him a good opportunity.
What do you think? Should Giordano go back to Calgary or try for a Cup with Edmonton or Toronto?
