Jaromir Jagr is still going strong at 52.
On Wednesday, he began his 37th season of professional hockey with Rytiri Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. The legendary player made a mark by assisting on his team’s only goal in a 5-1 defeat against Dynamo Pardubice.
Back in June, Jagr mentioned to Robert Rampa from iSport.cz that he plans for the 2024-25 season to be his last with Kladno. However, he’s not completely sure about what comes next, whether as a player or an owner .
Jagr aims to finish his career on a high note. Unlike last season, when he played just 15 games, he’s prepared to play every game this time around. “This time it’s different,” Jagr told Patrik Czepiec of iSport.cz. “I want to play every game. I’m going to train full-time.”
Jagr’s NHL Legacy:
Jagr spent 18 seasons in the NHL with several teams: Pittsburgh Penguins (11 years), New York Rangers (three years), Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, and Florida Panthers. Although he hasn’t been in the NHL since the 2015-16 season, his stats remain impressive.
An eight-time All-Star and five-time Art Ross Trophy winner for most points scored, Jagr also has two Stanley Cups and one MVP title under his belt. He ranks fifth all-time in assists (1,155), fourth in goals (766), second in points (1,921), and first in game-winning goals (135).
Fans might think this could be an emotional farewell tour for him.
While we watch him play another season at such an age is inspiring yet unpredictable—who knows what will happen next? Maybe he’ll surprise us all again!
