Every year, Scott Wheeler from The Athletic ranks the top 100 drafted NHL prospects.
In his latest list, he names Macklin Celebrini as the best prospect. Celebrini was the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 for the San Jose Sharks.
Celebrini is also known for being the youngest Hobey Baker award winner ever! He led Boston University to great success last winter and signed his first contract earlier this month. Now, he’s ready to guide the Sharks under new coach Ryan Warsofsky.

Wheeler wrote, “He has shown, again and again, that he has pretty well everything you look for in the mold of a center and has looked like a true star-forward prospect domestically and internationally.” Fans might think this is great news because they love seeing young talent shine.
Celebrini’s skills are impressive. His skating, timing, puck tracking, offensive moves, and playmaking make him seem like a sure thing. Wheeler believes these tools will help him become a star-level center for the Sharks.
What do you think about Celebrini’s future with the Sharks?
