The Edmonton Oilers have decided not to keep Brad Holland as assistant general manager for the 2024-25 season.
Brad, who was promoted in 2022, worked alongside Keith Gretzky and Bill Scott under his father, Ken Holland. The Oilers also chose not to renew Ken’s contract after five years, replacing him with Stan Bowman, the former GM of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Brad began his hockey journey in 2006 at NHL.com while studying law at Fordham University. He left in 2013 to practice law but soon joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015 after being persuaded by Brendan Shanahan. There, he honed his skills in hockey analytics and scouting.
Career Highlights:
In 2019, Brad reunited with his father at Edmonton as a pro scout. His analytical approach helped the team improve their forward depth through trades and build a strong prospect pool. Fans might think this change is a big shake-up for the team.
Now that he’s leaving Edmonton, Brad will look for new opportunities alongside his father. With eight years of front office experience and a knack for scouting and team-building, he’s expected to find another role quickly. There’s even speculation he might join the Dallas Stars where his uncle Dennis works as an amateur scout.
