Panthers Carter Verhaeghe Scores Opening Goal in Game 5

Carter Verhaeghe scored the first goal of Game 5 for the Panthers in the second period, capitalizing on a rebound from his initial shot that was saved by Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy during a 4-on-4 play.

Carter Verhaeghe, playing center for the Panthers, was all in. He made sure Florida nailed their first goal in Game 5 against the Lightning. It happened in the blink of an eye, right at the start of the second period. Verhaeghe was on it, scoring off a rebound after his first shot didn’t make it.

The Lightning’s goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy, did block that initial attempt. But, you know, he couldn’t quite get a grip on the puck. It slipped right back to Verhaeghe. And there he was, Florida’s four-year center, in the midst of a 4-on-4, taking his second shot.

This time, he didn’t miss.
