Another top-10 pick from the 2024 NHL Draft has signed an entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
Beckett Sennecke, chosen third overall by the Ducks, hails from Toronto. According to CapFriendly, his deal includes a base salary of $875K at the NHL level, a $97.5K yearly signing bonus, and up to $1M in performance bonuses. This means Sennecke could earn up to $1.975M per year on his entry-level contract.
Sennecke’s draft stock rose significantly after his stellar performance in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs last year. He netted 27 goals and 68 points for the Oshawa Generals over 63 regular-season games, then added 10 goals and 22 points in just 16 postseason matches . Not only did he lead his team in scoring during the playoffs, but he also topped the entire league.
More Signings by Anaheim:
Despite some thinking it was a stretch to pick him third overall, Sennecke is undeniably talented. His mature awareness and puckhandling skills will be valuable for Anaheim both offensively and defensively.
Fans might think this is an exciting move for the Ducks’ future.
In addition to Sennecke, Anaheim has also signed Stian Solberg, their 23rd overall pick from the same draft. Solberg played last season for Vålerenga in Norway’s Eliteserien.
Solberg scored five goals and collected 15 points over 42 games against other professional players while maintaining a +2 rating. During postseason play, he added two goals and nine points across 17 contests. His regular-season scoring ranked fourth among defensemen under age 18.
Next season will see Solberg joining Färjestad BK in Sweden’s top league—the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Färjestad BK has a history of developing NHL-caliber defensemen like Fredrik Olausson, Jonas Brodin, and Oliver Kylington.
