The Oilers have pushed the Stanley Cup Final to Game 7.
Trailing 3-0 against the Panthers, Edmonton fought back to tie the series and now heads to Sunrise, Florida for a decisive game on Monday night. Historically, only two other NHL teams have ever forced a Game 7 after being down 3-0 in the finals. The last team to do this was in 1945.
If they win, they’ll join an elite club of comeback champions. The Maple Leafs pulled off this feat in 1942 against Detroit.

Entering Game 4 with a daunting deficit and odds at +1300, Edmonton seemed unlikely to make it this far while Florida stood strong at -3000 . Even going into Game 6, the Panthers were favored at -350 compared to Edmonton’s +280 underdog status. Despite defying these odds repeatedly, they remain underdogs as they head into enemy territory for one last showdown.
Fans might think this could be one of the greatest comebacks ever seen in hockey history.
Winning would not only break recent trends but also end Canada’s long wait for another Stanley Cup victory—no Canadian team has won since Montreal did it back in ’93! Before that? Canada had its longest drought from ’36-’41.
